Tim and mine Anniversary weekend was spent being dumped on by snow. Did we mind? Not at all. I believe this is the first time I have actually embraced the snow. A winter wonderland added to the specialness of the weekend. Something that has never happened for me when it snows in Rexburg. It is just plain miserable when it does. Looking back over the past year, it's hard to believe it went by so fast. This weekend was not only a celebratory weekend but also a much needed, "I need to leave Rexburg now, and hopefully never have to return" weekend. After living in one little town for so long, the anticipation of when we are getting out is strong. That is why this weekend was so good for us. Thanks to some amazing parentals we were able to stay at the Marriott for a couple of nights. It was a wonderful surprise to us, when we came back to our room to find a special treat waiting for us in the fridge. That is what I call, excellent customer service. The note with it was also special. Who would have ever thought that a special note from a hotel would mean so much. Plus the chocolate covered strawberry's were absolutely de.li.cous.
Park City is what you would expect of a resort town. Lots a resorts with a main street lined with shops meant to draw in tourists. Even though the snow was piled on, the season did not begin until the following week. I was amazed that the amount of snow the fell still did not suffice and the snow making machines were constantly going in preparation. Having lived in a resort town before I have to say I prefer the off season when there aren't that many people around. There's a more quiet, peaceful atmosphere that I find more enjoyable. Tim and I enjoyed the relaxed feeling. We didn't feel pressed for time. Didn't feel we had to always be somewhere. We could go from one side of the city to the other and realize that we wanted to go back to where we were before to look at something again. I think most of our time was spent at the outlet mall, making secret wish lists in our (mainly mine) heads. We did enjoy walking up and down main street looking into windows. We didn't go into any of the shops, but felt more satisfied by just looking in from the outside.
It was a very relaxed weekend, and that's how it was meant to be. We explored and observed and made constant remarks of never wanting to go back to Rexburg. When it was time for us to leave, we were extremely sad. So we stopped in Salt Lake and walked around Temple Square to delay the inevitable. With all the snow they got it too was a winter wonderland.
Perfect year one anniversary.
