Living in Idaho, one would think that come Fall/Halloween time there would be an abundance of pumpkin patches. Let me be the one to tell all; that is not the case. Straw mazes. Yes. Corn Mazes. Yes. Pumpkin patches. No. There is just something about reliving that childhood memory of going to a farm where there are tons of pumpkins. Pumpkins of all different sizes. Some so big you can hardly pick them up let alone wrap your arms around it. Eastern Idaho apparently does not care about those childhood memories. I decided Saturday that I wanted to try and relive a childhood memory. It's that time of year to carve pumpkins and rather then going to the grocery store, picking a decent looking pumpkin and paying an arm and leg we were going to have fun choosing our pumpkins at a place where the options are better.
I found a listing online for U-Pick Red Barn. It is located down in Idaho Falls across from the camels at the zoo. It's a cute little place that is family oriented. Though hubs and I are not physically little kids, we like to think we are kids at heart. We had a great time walking up and down the dirt isles scouting out for the best pumpkins we could find. There were a ton choices with lots of picking up a pumpkin, knowing it's the "one," placing it in the wagon, then continue walking to a second later finding the "perfect one," and replacing it with the previous "one." This was a fun process and happened many times. I'm thinking that this little outing is going to be a tradition that will happen each year, and will become a little bit more exciting when we start having kids. Plus a better excuse to take tons of pictures.
